Stratton, VT —
Stratton area in the Summertime!

Summer turns southern Vermont into a bright green paradise that offers outdoor enjoyment for everyone. Here are a couple of examples of the places that stand out to us.

For fishing, paddle boarding, and canoeing, Gale Meadows Wildlife Management Area is the local favorite. It is an approximately 707-acre parcel located in the towns of Londonderry and Winhall. It is owned by the State of Vermont and managed by the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department. It's man-made pond is 195-acres leaving plenty of room to enjoy the breathtaking views of Stratton mountain. Stand-up paddleboards and canoes can be rented for day use at The Norse House in town.

Hiking and mountain biking trails are around every corner. Hikes at Jamaica State Park can last for hours and are mostly on level ground. The park consists of 772 acres which includes hiking trails and 59 camping sites. You can hike west to reach Hamilton Falls or hike north to Ball Mountain Dam. Speaking of the dam, this year the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has scheduled two releases of the Ball Mountain Dam promising to make for some spectacular whitewater paddling. The first one is scheduled for early May and the second will take place in September.

"It’s the oldest continuous fair in Vermont since 1797."
