New Fairfield, CT —
New York’s Best Kept Secret

New Fairfield, Connecticut is a fabulous suburban community located about one hour from Manhattan, just over the line from Brewster, New York. It’s a great location for commuting into Westchester County & NYC, as it is minutes from Metro North train line and holds itself as a true ‘vacation lifestyle’ town as one of five towns that surround beautiful Candlewood Lake.

Over 30 years ago, I worked for the IBM Corporation in sales and marketing when I was transferred to Norwalk, Connecticut while working with our clients, General Electric. New Fairfield was the perfect location to move to as it was a direct commute to Norwalk for my new job opportunity and for my husband who worked in Westchester County for IBM, as well. We wanted an easy commute location into NY and coming from Northern Westchester County in 1985.

We fell in love with the small town vibe that New Fairfield offers, just north of Danbury, it’s a small town with one traffic light and a population of just over 14,000. Candlewood Lake, the largest lake in the state of Connecticut with approximately 60 miles of shoreline, is 8.4 square miles, ranging from 40-80 feet deep and is home to both Fairfield & Litchfield Counties. Candlewood Lake offers year round activities including boating, water skiing, fishing, tubing, fall foliage peeking, snow shoeing, ice skating, cross country skiing and ice fishing.

"New Fairfield is a small town where people wave hello, stop you in the store to check in with your life and care about one another."

Our delightful little town hosts many events from summer carnivals, Easter Egg Hunts, Breakfasts with Santa, Christmas Tree lightings, Fourth of July parades, New Fairfield High School sports events to name a few and many community organizations provide opportunities to get involved such as the Community Service Club. These events and groups bring the town together throughout the year. New Fairfield is a small town where people wave hello, stop you in the store to check in with your life and care about one another. There’s a real sense of caring and community here.

"Ball Pond & Squantz Pond offer non-motorized bodies of water where you can enjoy the peace and tranquility of nature."
