One of the great things about living in Fairfield, CT is that residents can take mini “escapes” anytime they need to. When you live in a town that offers great beaches, restaurants, shopping and scenery, you can find an escape that is perfect for you at any time of the year. Here is our version of the perfect weekend escape in Fairfield.

Location
A town located along the Gold Coast of Connecticut
Distance
A 1 hour and 15 minute ride by car or by train
Getting Here
Hop on the Metro North New Haven line from Grand Central and get to any of Fairfield’s three train stations in just over an hour.

"You can hike for hours on glorious trails while your pups play, swim in the lake and meet new friends."

A quick lunch at the Chef’s Table, a Fairfield staple, allows you to enjoy a wonderful assortment of fresh soups, sandwiches and salads while listening to great live music. Once you are there, you are likely to pop into some of the great shops along the center of town like Capri or Island Outfitters. And there is always time for a stop at the Fairfield University Bookstore to find your next favorite read or grab a grande latte at Starbucks.

With so many options, it’s hard to pick a favorite dining spot. We love Molto for their signature cocktails and lively dining scene. Looking for something a little more intimate and cozy? The Little Goose offers great comfort foods such as Chili and Lobster Mac & Cheese. If you are bringing the kiddos to dinner, stop by Plan B Burgers for a family friendly meal that’s also budget friendly (yes, they even have chicken fingers!) If you have a post dinner sweet tooth, treat yourself to some ice cream or candy at Saugatuck Sweets, a locally-owned sweets shop that delivers 16 different flavors of hard ice cream and over 100 different varieties of bulk candy.

Not ready to call it a night after dinner? Head over to the Fairfield Theatre Company where on any given night you can hear great live music. From popular artists like 10,000 Maniacs to local artists and cover bands, there is something for every music enthusiast.

Sunday brunch time! Head to The Hole in Wall for a quick breakfast that offers hot egg sandwiches and bagels or go to The Chelsea in the center of town for a full brunch option that includes eggs benedict, Bloody Mary’s and mimosas. If you’re a Sunday football fan you can skip brunch and head straight to Archie Moore’s or Vinny’s to watch the big game and grab some wings. If the weather is right, head to Jennings Beach, put your sunscreen on, sit back and soak in some sun and scenery.

Of all the wonderful things to do in Fairfield, Fowler and Company’s most favorite thing about Fairfield is the amazing sense of community. Our team of realtors have lived and worked in Fairfield for over 30 years and absolutely love where we live. We know you will too.
