

At times it is easy to forget that Manhattan is an island and sailing is part of its history and culture. As an avid sailor, my youth was spent growing up in New York City and revolved around sailing, boatyards, and sail lofts. This is why Battery Park, being a maritime hub, with the sights and sounds of a working waterfront feels like home. The presence of ferries, work boats and enhance the notion that New York is the third largest seaport in the United States.
