Sherman, CT —
A town you’ll never want to leave

Steeped in history and named for our notorious founding father, Roger Sherman, who ventured out on foot from Massachusetts and settled here as a young cobbler in the early 1700's. Roger became a surveyor, Justice of the Peace, Statesman, and the only signer of all four founding American documents. His original cobbler shop is located in the center of town behind the Historical Society. Be sure to stop in to The Old Store for something Sherman!

"Daredevils can try jumping from Chicken Rock or take a swing on the rope jump."

Sherman was voted Best Small Town in CT for three consecutive years by CT Magazine, and no wonder with bucolic vistas of its famous red barns and foothills of the Appalachians. Appealing to many famous writers, artists, musicians, actors, and corporate giants who want to escape city life. Enjoy the peace and serenity of hiking the many trail systems (Naromi, Audubon, Appalachian).
