Pomfret, CT —
Pomfret, one of the oldest towns in Connecticut

Pomfret is one of the oldest towns in Connecticut, dating back to 1713 and located in Windham County, the center of the Last Green Valley, which is characterized as green by day and dark by night. Pomfret is part of the National Heritage Corridor with a rich history in a surprisingly rural landscape of 77% forest and farm.

"The height of popularity in Pomfret was known as the resort era, when families owned second-home cottages dotting the hill."

Christ Episcopal Church, one of four places of worship in Pomfret, contains several awe-inspiring Louis Comfort Tiffany windows. As an American artist and art designer, he was best known for his work in stained glass and is the American artist most associated with the Art Nouveau and Aesthetic movements. Louis’ father, Charles Lewis Tiffany, was the founder of the famous Tiffany & Co and was born in the next town, Killingly.
