Step it up a notch
Sole Desire
Heels, flats, clogs, or boots, Sole Desire carries popular name brand footwear that you can’t find anywhere else in town. They always have the latest styles and since I have large feet (great balance), they always have my size! They also sell cool hats and bags.
Cabbage Rose
If you need a new outfit and don’t want to look like everyone else, head over to Cabbage Rose near Waite’s Wharf. The store owner is a lovely gal who gets her collection from many different vendors and she always seems to pick just the right amount of posh.
Apothecary
An affordable boutique beauty supply store that carries my favorite makeup line. They provide in-store consultations to make sure you’re getting the right products for your individual needs. They help enhance your inner beauty!
Duris Studios
Located on lower Thames, this boutique truly has the most jaw dropping designed jewelry pieces I have ever seen. The owner, Kevin Duris, custom made a bracelet for my daughter around a particular shaped stone she had chosen. He also showcases other local artists’ wares in his store.
Wag Nation
Wag Nation takes care of that four legged family member. Designer collars, gluten-free treats, comfy beds, and doggie life jackets will have your furry friend in style. The store mascot, Peter, will give you a nod from his bed as you enter the store.

Take a walk on the local side
The Cliff Walk
A Newport, Rhode Island trademark. My family and I have spent countless afternoons strolling the cliffs, happily immersed between the views of the Atlantic Ocean and the historic mansions.
Cardines Field
A small rustic ballpark just a stone’s throw away from the Newport Bridge. As a mother of three, I have spent many nights bringing my children to watch the local Gulls games on warm summer nights.
The Tennis Hall of Fame
The museum and its classic shingle-style architecture house with impeccable grass courts. Within the compound, my daughter expressed her love of tennis through participation as a ball girl. Her time spent here allowed her to come face to face with some of the top tennis players of the world. It is here that I often retire on my summer days in July to catch a glimpse of Jon Isner and Jack Sock.
The Aquidneck Island Farmer’s Market
Wednesday night’s on Memorial Boulevard cures anyone’s hankering for freshly picked produce. The local harvests include some of the best corn, tomatoes, eggplant, strawberries, blueberries, and honey. The items found here are sure to add some flavor to any home cooked meal.
The Haunted Walking Tour
The tour illuminates the dark side of Newport’s history. Feed your curiosity with legends of pirates, bewitched graveyards, and old haunted taverns as you walk the historic cobblestone streets of Newport.
