If your goal is an escape from the dreary city, Milford is the answer, with shoreline properties on ponds, rivers & the mighty ocean still selling for surprisingly low prices. One of Connecticut’s oldest communities, founded in 1639 with the purchase of land from the Paugussett Indians, it has managed to hold onto a residential waterfront of about 1,000 homes strung along its 14-mile frontage on Long Island Sound.
