"What you probably don’t know about Pemaquid Peninsula is that it is home to one of the most photographed and iconic lighthouses in the country, The Pemaquid Point Lighthouse. "
Of the 65 lighthouses along the Maine coastline, the Pemaquid Point Lighthouse has been chosen as the face of numerous postcards, magazines and deemed one of the most Instagram-able spots by tourists. It is even featured on the Maine quarter, and was the first U.S. coin to display a lighthouse. If you are a history buff, the keeper's quarters are a must see. What used to be called home by the lighthouse keeper, has been converted into the Fisherman’s Museum. The mission of this establishment is to preserve the history of the Mid-Coast region’s fishing practices, and how it has shaped the community into what it is today.
